Summer School Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing a welcoming, friendly, supportive, safe, and professional environment for all participants in the Summer School, regardless of age, background, belief, disability, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, identity, national origin, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
This Code of Conduct applies before, during, and after the event, and covers all associated physical and virtual spaces, including lectures, tutorials, discussions, social activities, and online communication channels.
Our Expectations
- By participating in the Summer School, all attendees agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and accept the procedures for addressing any reported incidents.
- Treat all participants with respect. We expect instructors, speakers, and attendees to contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide accurate professional information (name, affiliation, and, where appropriate, contact details) during registration and participation.
- Engage constructively in discussions, ask questions respectfully, and help maintain a collaborative academic atmosphere.
Behaviors We Encourage
- Use of welcoming and inclusive language.
- Respect for differing viewpoints, backgrounds, and levels of experience.
- Patience and understanding toward participants with varying expertise.
- Constructive feedback and thoughtful academic discussion.
- Making space for others to speak, ask questions, and participate.
Unacceptable Behavior
- Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech or actions.
- Harmful or prejudicial comments or imagery related to age, background, belief, disability, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, identity, national origin, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics.
- Inappropriate or sexualized language, imagery, or behavior.
- Real or implied threats of professional, academic, or financial harm.
- Disruption of lectures, tutorials, or online sessions.
- Recording or photographing slides, presentations, or participants without permission from the presenter or organizers.
- Violating the rules of the online platform (e.g., Zoom) or the venue.
Reporting Incidents
If you believe someone is violating the Code of Conduct, or if you experience or witness behavior that causes concern, please report it to the organizers as soon as possible.
You may contact any member of the organizing committee in person or by email. All reports will be handled confidentially and with discretion.
Resolution of Incidents
Reported incidents will be reviewed by the organizers. If a violation is confirmed, possible actions include:
- A private discussion or educational conversation with the individual involved.
- Removal from a specific session or activity.
- Removal from the Summer School.
- Restrictions on participation in future events.
- Removal from mailing lists or organizational roles.
Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all participants.
